Is helping okay?

Throughout my life, whenever I have helped someone I never asked for anything in return, not money, or thanks, or anything. Why? I helped because I wanted to. That's all. I did it for me. I’ve been that way as long as I can remember and my years of volunteer work is at least one demonstration of that.

I expect that might be the same for anyone else who helps because he wants to. I would hope that if someone would help me in any way it would be because they want to. Not even a thank you would be required. It would just be something we do.

Perhaps some people help because they feel they have to. If that’s true, those people should definitely get plenty of thanks and appreciation. They worked for it, and we should be very glad to give it.
